Can I pay my Mastercard bill with my American Express card?

jefferson barnaby asked:

Can I pay my minimum payment on my Mastercard with my American Express card? If so, how? I’d prefer to do it online, but seem to only be able to add checking and savings account numbers to pay the bill, not with another credit card. I know this is not the best idea, but recently lost my job and don’t have much savings.

Thanks in advance.

Andrea

No you can’t online. Sorry. The only way is to get a AmEx credit card cash advance (which has a very high interest rate), deposit it in your checking, then pay your MC bill.

(If you get cash advance “checks” from AmEx, then you can use those to pay your MC bill - but still has the high interest rate.)

you might be able to do a balance transfer though - I just don’t know if Amex does that
