If you haven't needed a credit card up until people have been telling you that you need one, don't worry about it. You really don't 'need' one. The only reason that I got my credit card (aside to help with my credit score!) was for emergiencies-and that was at my family suggestion. I ended up applying for a card through my bank/federal credit union. They will be easier than any other place, especially if you have been with them for a while. Make sure you have NO annual fee. Aside from that, pick and choose.

9000 is a very good credit limit, definitely dont try to increase it because that puts an inquiry on your credit report which causes your FICO to lower. most people think the higher their limits the better their credit and this isnt true(it does effect it slightly but there are far greater ways to raise FICO).

one thing to definitely keep in mind is that if you feel you will never need 9K limit; call and get it lowered, this doesnt hurt you at all and is a good idea to protect yourself from identity theft. people get these ridiculous credit limits and dont realize how appealing that is to ID theft.

but to answer your question the best way to increase it without putting an inquiry on your credit report is simply to not use the card at all and leave it with a 0 balance.

different credit card companies have different standards and different mediums for credit limits. Bank of America and American Express are known for having really high limits, while Discover card is known for having more conservative limits.

Get a secured credit card, but BEFORE YOU APPLY be sure you won't have to pay lots of fees for the card. Credit unions are good places to go for low-fee, secured credit cards. Pay it on time every time and you'll build up your credit rating.

Increasing it would be stupid. You should ask them to lower it so you don't max it out and get yourself into trouble. You do NOT want to be $9,000 in debt.

Credit card balance transfer is one of the preferred ways to get rid of credit card debt and is used by many people to get immediate relief. Credit card balance transfer essentially means that we transfer our outstanding balances from a high APR credit card to a credit card which offers low APR's. A 0% Intro APR credit card is the preferred credit card to transfer balances, but because of the widespread misuse of such credit card offers, credit card companies have withdrawn all such offers.

Indeed balance transfer saves a lot of money and can save things from going worse, but many people simply don't know the right way to do balance transfer. This article takes a look at the correct process to initiate and complete the balance transfer.

The first thing to look out, when a person wants to transfer his balances is a credit card which offers the lowest apr rates and lowest balance transfer fees. Many online credit card companies offer credit card comparisons. It is indeed a good practice to search for the credit cards using their services and decide on a credit card which offers the maximum savings. It is important to note here that balance transfer APRs depend on a person's credit history. If the credit card in question offers the lowest rates, it is definitely for those with the best credit ratings. There are different balance transfer apr's for people with lower credit ratings. So, it becomes imperative that one chooses the credit card which offers the lowest apr and balance transfer fees for his credit ratings. Read more from:

That is a very high limit, but is good, if I was you I would try to have a balance of 0 and not use it at all, only for emergencies such as car break down, or others.

Because if you get laid off at least you know that you have whatever you have save up in your bank plus the $ 9,000 in your credit card.

Now I use cash for all my purchases and I just got a Credit card with a limit of $2000 and it is only for emergencies, after 6 months I have only used it twice and paid off right away.

Yes you can increase your limit the only thing you have to do is call them and ask them for an increase, but is up to you if you think you really need it. Just remember
"Credit cards are good servants but awful masters"

Good Luck
