How reliable is a mastercard greendot debit card?

Kristie D asked:

My parents won’t let me get a checking account (which includes a debit card) even though I work two jobs throughout the year. Every time I need money I need to go to the bank, instead of making an ATM withdrawal. I’m 17 and almost eligible to open my own account. Should I wait to turn 18 or use the greendot card? A friend of mine said that the card was great and you don’t need parental consent, but I looked at the website and it didn’t have any clear information. Help please?

It’s very reliable you can even use it as a credit at stores. It takes about 5-7 days for it to actually arrive at your house, but after that it’s great. You have to pay to reload it which is a downside but i think it would be a great alternitive for you.
